Kern County has a number of educational and job training programs, helping to provide area residents with needed job skills and assist them with career advancement. There are nine high school academies in the county, each concentrating on a separate industry, focusing primarily on the areas showing the most growth. Kern also has junior colleges and universities, both public and private, with state of the art technology and instructors from all over the United States. In addition, Kern hosts the Division I-bound, California State University, and a number of job training providers who work with the students to prepare them for work with specific vocational training for a variety of areas and industries.
