About Kern County > Community Overview > McFarland

The City of McFarland is one of Kern County’s most progressive rural communities.  With its 12,000 plus population and a thriving commerce agenda predicated on the citrus and agriculture landscape, McFarland is one of Kern County’s fastest growing communities.

McFarland has a HUB Zone that is designed to foster economic benefits for companies, and it is also part of California’s Free Trade Zone.

One of McFarland’s strongest points is a 750 acre proposed industrial park presently being planned.  In this state-of-the-art industrial park, the focus would be large tenants that are more distribution in nature, but would also make provisions for highly sensitive technology-oriented tenants.

Another major hallmark is the low cost of living.  Homes are very affordable, and McFarland is also a great place to raise a family; the schools are excellent, and consumer opportunities are abundant within a 30 minute drive.

Opportunities in McFarland are great and the City and County are serious about assisting corporations with their needs, whether they involve land, infrastructure or tax incentives.
