Kern County has a number of educational and job training programs, helping to provide area residents with needed job skills and assist them with career advancement. There are nine high school academies in the county, each concentrating on a separate industry, focusing primarily on the areas showing the most growth. Kern also boasts over ten different junior colleges and universities, both public and private, with state of the art technology and instructors from all over the United States. The largest public university in the area, California State University, Bakersfield's School of Business and Public Administration was recently given the honor of being placed in the top twenty percent of business programs in the world. There are also a number of job training providers, who work with the students to prepare them for work with specific vocational training for a variety of areas and industries.
